At an early age, Odin gave him and his sister, Sól, the task of creating a day-night cycle for all the worlds of the Yggdrasil, since, until then, the worlds were plunged into an eternal dark night. That would make his mother, indignant, turn her back on the gods, and return to her home, Muspelheim.
