City of Idavöll

The City of Idavöll is the heart of the world of Asgard, where most of the gods built their palaces and where everything is managed. It is protected by a great magical wall built by the Master Builder jötun, with its entrance guarded by Heimdall. Its huge palaces rise up to the clouds, concentrating mainly in one part of the city, around Odin's palace, which is directly in front of the city's central square.

Breidablik Palace

Breidablik Palace

The palace of Breidablik, home of Balder and his wife, Nanna, is the smallest of all the palaces of Asgard but is considered the purest and most beautiful. Its roof is gilded in gold and supported by sturdy columns of solid silver. Its doors, walls and windows are protected by a mysterious spell of unknown origin that prevents darkness from entering the palace. This enchantment will be broken when Yves, after waking up, manages to access Balder's mind, inducing all kinds of nightmares.

The palace of Valhalla is Odin's palace and the resting place of the other half of the fallen warriors in Midgard who do not go to Folkvangr. These warriors rest and train eternally in a kind of paradise, without the possibility of leaving. It is used by the Æsir as a training ground for future wars, such as the one that will occur during Ragnarök. The palace has a long entrance called Valgrind. At the top of Valhalla is a garden with a tree in the center, called Lærad. The leaves of this tree serve as food for the deer Eikthyrnir and the goat Heidrún, who live in the garden. This tree produces apples that are harvested by the goddess Idunn, known as Idunn's Apples.

Lyfjaberg Mountain is located in the Gastropnir region, and its caverns serve as home to many giants. The giantess Menglöd was imprisoned here by the giant Fjölsvinn. This mountain is the main setting for a series of poems that tell the story of Svipdag and the help of his deceased mother, Gróa, an expert sorceress, who tries to assist him in a task imposed by his stepmother. Svipdag arrives at Lyfjaberg Mountain, where a castle stands on its summit, and encounters the giant Fjölsvinn. The conclusion of these poems tells how Svipdag discovers that Menglöd is imprisoned in the castle and rescues her.

After the separation of the couple, Njörd lived the rest of his life in this palace, while Skadi returned to her abode in Jötunheim.

The Well of Urd is a place that does not seem anchored to any specific place. It appears before those to whom the nornas want to speak, or those who need answers and destiny allows them to have them. A lake appears, with the well in the center, glorious and beautiful like nothing ever seen, with a construction never seen before. Two mysterious swans inhabit the lake surrounding the well, their names and history unknown. Once someone passes the limits of the lake, he will sink, as if dragged by a greater force, and will enter a trance-like state, feeling that he does not belong to any specific point in space or time. In such a state there is no movement whatsoever, not even the words emitted by the guest come out of his mouth. The three nornas will speak and listen for as long as they determine, without being able to be seen.

The Svíthjod region, located northeast of Enea, borders it. It is a rather cold and rugged region, often referred to as the "Jötunheim of Vanaheim". To the east of this region rises a large mountain range, from which flows a river, the Tanais, which flows through some of the Svíthjod settlements.

No one dares to enter because of the well-known legends that claim that in ancient times public sacrifices were performed there. The legends go so far as to say that whoever enters will never get out unless he is chained, and if he falls, he will not dare to get up and will crawl to his doom. Otherwise, the dark nature of the forest will punish his daring.

Odinsaker is the only village in the Glæsisvellir region, and therefore the entire territory of the region is often associated with the village, although this is not entirely true. The village has a sturdy wall, but lacks excessive defenses. There is a myth about this village that says that whoever comes to Odinsaker emerges rejuvenated and healthy. It was in this village that Gudmund, father of Höfund and king of the land, was born, who eventually died in an internal village battle with his brothers Hothbrod and Starkad, at the hands of the sword of the giant Helgi.

Járnvidr Forest is located in the southwest of Jötunheim. It is a secluded forest inhabited by female jötuns and wolves, which eventually interbred, giving rise to offspring that were half wolf and half jötun. It was here that Angrboda was born, half jötun and half wolf, with whom the jötun Loki fathered three sons: Fenrir, Jörmungandr and Hel. In this forest, Fenrir grew up and had his two sons, Sköll and Hati, with the she-wolf Hródvit. Sköll and Hati are known as the pursuers and executioners in Ragnarök, chasing and finally overtaking Sól and Máni, the gods of the Sun and the Moon, respectively.

The source of Hvergelmir is an icy spring in the world of Niflheim from which the eleven Élivágar rivers originate. No water flows through these rivers, for the source of Hvergelmir is, in reality, a well that condenses on its way to the surface the Whispers of the Ginnungagap itself, forming a kind of ether of Whispers or water of Whispers, which is what truly flows through the Élivágar rivers. This was not something premeditated by the triad of gods when forming the Yggdrasil, but it was formed in Niflheim thanks to it accidentally, almost as if the Yggdrasil itself had had the will to do so.

The palace of Éljúdnir is the palace of the goddess Hela. It is entirely composed of shadows. Inside, Hela resides with all her subjects, and its layout is peculiar. At the entrance, one observes two giants with chains around their necks that are suspected to have been forged by Sindri. As one proceeds, the path splits in two, with a gap between two long staircases that allows a direct view of the Gjöll River. Climbing the stairs leads to the subjects' abodes, just behind an imposing statue of Hela. A central staircase ascends to the chamber of the goddess. In this room is the Kör, which is her bed, and her curtains called Blikjandaböl (Shining Disaster).

The great heath crossed by the Rhine River within the region of Enea is remembered as the site of the battle between Fafnir, transformed into a dragon, and his adopted nephew, Sigurd, for the gold that the Ring of Andvari summoned to King Hreidmar. This ring was given to the king as compensation for the loss of his son, Óter, at the hands of Loki, and brought immense wealth that aroused in Fafnir an unusual envy and greed, leading him to kill his own father. This greed stemmed from the curse imposed by Andvari on his own ring after Loki stole it from him. Such greed would eventually consume Regin and his son, leading Sigurd to kill his own father. In the end, the treasure did not end up in anyone's hands, but sank to the bottom of the Rhine River, thus beginning the legend of the Gold of the Rhine.

A thriving village in eastern Vanaheim suffered its complete annihilation and destruction in a single night due to the magic of Fjölkyng unleashed by a young Gullveig girl in a powerful fit of rage. This incident marked the first documented use of such dark magic, and various symbols derived from it came to be known as the "Vadstena Marks". The town never recovered from this devastation; no one wanted to repopulate the area or rebuild the ruins. Now, nature has reclaimed the remains of what was once alive.

The kingdom of Utgard is the most significant place in the world of Jötunheim, where the largest economy thrives. Surrounded by icy peaks and high mountains, the Jötuns themselves decided to build a colossal and sturdy wall, making it one of the most fortified kingdoms in the Nine Worlds. It is located in a somewhat decentralized position on the map of Jötunheim and is ruled by King Jötun Skrýmir.

The kingdom of Thrymheim was another of the most important kingdoms in the world of Jötunheim, and the home of King Thjazi. His daughter, Skadi, lived there with her husband and brother Njörd before they obtained, through the peace treaty between the Vanir and the Æsir, the palace of Nóatún in Asgard. Njörd preferred this palace, while Skadi wished to return to Thrymheim once they parted. After their separation, he went to his palace in Asgard, and she continued to live in Thrymheim.

It is not very wide, but it is a river with a strong current, widely known throughout the worlds for its curious location and the fact that, no matter how much it freezes, it never freezes over completely.
